November in the Cher River Valley
The first time we ever saw
the house in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher was on December 10, 2002
a year ago. And the first night we spent here was June
12, 2003. That was six months ago, but it seems like yesterday.
Digging up plots and turning
the soil for next spring's vegetable garden is one of our biggest
tasks right now. The ground is wet and soft, but it's mostly
clay and turning it over is hard work. We plan to have four
4 m x 4 m plots for tomatoes, beans, leeks, collard greens,
radishes, and whatever strikes our fancy. We have about half
an acre (2300 m2) of land, on the edge of the vineyards.
